Hair Growth

Hair growth never stops, but the intensity of the process changes. So, during daylight hours and in the off-season they grow faster. In a month, babies grow approximately 1.3 cm, in mature people 1.5 cm, in old people 1 cm.

The life of each individual hair is divided into three phases:
1. Anagen or growth phase – during this period it grows most rapidly. The hair follicle is actively producing new cells. The duration of the phase is 2 – 5 years and it depends on heredity.
2. Catagen or intermediate phase - about a month. No processes occur; the root moves closer to the surface of the skin.
3. Telogen or shedding phase – the duration of this phase is about three months. Either the hair falls out on its own, or it can be removed by combing, since the next one is already “supporting” it from below.

In the depths of the hair follicle there is a hair papilla, abundantly supplied with blood. Here the division of future hair cells occurs. These new cells receive blood with oxygen and nutrients. Little by little the papilla atrophies, the cells stop receiving nutrition and harden ( keratinization occurs), the hair root moves towards the surface of the skin. However, immediately in the lower part of the papilla, a new bulb begins to form from the remaining cells of the previous hair. If hair grows very quickly, it can cause the sensation of heavy hair loss.

Factors that slow down hair growth:

  • Lack of "building material"
  • Illiterate care.
In order for all phases of growth to proceed normally, the body needs microelements and vitamins. Essential microelements: calcium, iron, chromium, magnesium, iodine, manganese, sulfur, silicon, zinc, potassium. Moreover, the most effective method of supplying building material is internal, through the blood. Therefore, you should enrich your diet with as many different vegetables and fruits as possible, as well as dairy products.

The most important vitamin for hair growth is beta carotene. It is present in all red, orange and yellow fruits and vegetables.
B vitamins are also important, in particular B7 or biotin. Some of the vitamins are found in green and yellow vegetables, others in yeast and meat products. The diet must include walnuts, oatmeal, soybeans, beans and peas, and brewer's yeast. Since the supply of vitamins to the body must be constant, the menu should be carefully thought out.

Causes of loss

A perfectly healthy person loses up to hundreds of hairs per day. This is a physiological norm. But sometimes hair loss occurs at an accelerated pace and bald patches appear on the head. They are called alopecia. More often it affects representatives of the stronger sex. The most active loss begins from the forehead and crown.
To check whether the hair loss is really unhealthy, you should not wash your hair for at least 3 days and pull a tuft of hair on the temple or crown. If 5 or more hairs remain in the fingers, this indicates the need for treatment.

The most common causes of hair loss:

  • Weak immunity ,
  • Lack of iron in the body,
  • Use of certain medications ( blood pressure lowerers, antidepressants, aspirin, some steroids, diuretics, a number of hormonal contraceptives),
  • Hormonal imbalance and diseases of the endocrine system,
  • Infectious lesions of the scalp ( dermatitis, seborrhea),
  • Poor blood supply to the scalp. May be caused by vascular disease, heart disease or osteochondrosis, abuse of strong tea, coffee, cognac,
  • Vitamin deficiency. Smoking aggravates vitamin deficiencies,
  • Stress. With chronic stress, the vessels of the scalp spasm and poorly supply blood to the hair follicles,
  • Bad ecology,
  • Hypothermia or overheating of the scalp.

Proper care is a guarantee of beautiful hairstyle

If the menu is compiled correctly and the body is provided with all the necessary substances, you need to think about hair care. If they are prone to dryness or oiliness, they require special care, which will be discussed below.

1. To wash your hair, use only soft water.
2. When washing, do not scrub or rub the scalp too much. This mechanical effect activates the production of sebum. Therefore, your hair will get dirty faster.
3. You can wash your hair as often as necessary to keep it clean. If you wash frequently, you should choose special gentle shampoos. It is good if the shampoo contains hydrophilic oil. It maintains the natural acidity of the environment and at the same time removes dirt well. Regular use of such products regulates the function of the sebaceous glands.
4. If any special mousses, foams or gels are used for styling, they should be washed off before going to bed. As a last resort, you need to comb your hair with a thick comb. Only products of natural origin can be left on your hair ( for example, beer or herbal infusions).
5. After washing your hair, you don’t need to walk for a long time in a “turban” made of a towel. Such a compress is only needed when treating the head with any masks. Otherwise, excellent conditions are created for the development of microorganisms and, as a result, dandruff appears.
6. To give your hair a well-groomed look, you should treat it with balm.
7. It is not advisable to dry your hair frequently with a hair dryer. Otherwise, it is advisable to use special styling preparations that protect against the effects of temperature.
8. Massaging the scalp once every 7 days significantly improves blood circulation and strengthens the scalp.

Dry, brittle, dull

Factors that cause dry hair:
  • Heredity,
  • Exposure to dyes or perms,
  • Combing with bad combs ( metal or rough wood),
  • Exposure to wind and sun
  • Washing your hair with soap.
How to care for them?
Wash no more than once every 10 days. Use only special shampoos for dry hair, including vitamin B5, wheat germ, linden, mint or chamomile extracts, and lecithin.
Before washing your hair, it is useful to treat your scalp with vegetable oil or a nutritious mixture ( recipes will be below), wrap in a warm towel and leave for 60 minutes. After this, the hair is thoroughly washed with shampoo.

Dry, brittle and split ends are afraid of the sun and mechanical stress. To paint them, you should carefully choose the paint.
The use of curling irons, hair dryers and straightening irons further injure them. Before styling, you should first thoroughly dry your hair with a towel and after a quarter of an hour after final drying, you can style it.

Fat ones - hang like icicles

Causes:
  • At the base of each hair there is a sebaceous gland, and they all secrete oil. Thus, the thicker and finer the hair, the more glands there are. Red hair is least likely to be oily, since on average there are only up to 90 thousand of them on the head. But natural blondes can have up to 140 thousand of them!
  • Frequent blow-drying with hot air stimulates sebum production,
  • An increased level of male sex hormone in the body leads to activation of the sebaceous glands,
  • Stress leads to the production of hormones that activate the sebaceous glands.
What to do with them?
You need to wash such hair as it gets dirty. Some sources advise washing only certain parts of the head so as not to over-stimulate the sebaceous glands. In any case, it is preferable to use cool water.

The shampoo must be special and it is better if it is transparent. According to experts, transparent shampoos contain fewer sticky components. You need to wash your hair twice. In this case, you should leave the shampoo on your head for 5 minutes, this will allow the active ingredients to start working. While washing your hair, you should massage. At other times, there is no need to massage your head; this can provoke even more sebum production. You should not use conditioner when washing your hair, but if the ends are dry, you should choose a conditioner without vegetable fats.

To reduce fat content, you can dye them. And if you like the natural color, you can choose paint exactly to match the natural color. Coloring will not only reduce oiliness, but will also give your hair a well-groomed look and shine.

They should be combed with combs with infrequent teeth. Bone and horn are very suitable, as they absorb excess fat. While combing, you should touch the scalp as little as possible.

When drying, direct the air stream in the direction against hair growth. This will help make your hair look fuller.
Remove smoke, fatty foods, alcohol, coffee, and sweets from your diet. But vitamins C, group B, sulfur and iron will help regulate the functioning of the sebaceous glands.

When styling, you should lift your hair so that it does not lie and absorb fat.
Short hairstyles are easier to care for.

Thin – always a problem with volume

Thin hair is not a disorder, it is an individual feature of its structure. The thickness of the hair is no more than 0.05 mm. Most often, you owe this structure to your parents. As a rule, owners of such hair cannot boast of its volume, since the hair is not too thick. Nothing can be done about this. But you can try to make them stronger and maybe a little thicker.

How to care for them?
To strengthen and improve hair growth, you can take spirulina extract, protein supplements, vitamins E, vitamins B and A, and mineral supplements.

You need to wash your hair often and very thoroughly, because within 2 days after washing your hair will sag in unsightly strands.

It is advisable to abandon rinses altogether and not take two-in-one shampoos. These shampoos make your hair feel heavier and stickier. You can change the balm, conditioner and rinse aid. Those that contain protein additives are very good; they make the hair more voluminous and well-groomed. Once every 7 days you can use deep cleansing products.

For this type of hair, massage is also indicated. You can do it with soft movements of your fingertips. This will improve blood supply to the bulbs. Do not use if you have high blood pressure.
There are special dyes for this type of hair. They “fluff” the scales on the hairs and they appear more voluminous.

Split ends (trichoptilosis)

With this disease, the total mass of hair is dry, since the activity of the sebaceous glands is reduced.
The reasons can be varied, including infectious diseases, improper care or lack of iron in the body.
Most often, in the total mass of normal hair, there are several with ends split into a “tassel”. A similar phenomenon can occur with frequent washing with the wrong shampoo or combing with a very hard brush. Caring for such hair is similar to caring for dry hair.

Vitamins and nutritional features

Vitamins are needed to grow beautiful and long hair. First of all, these are B vitamins and folic acid. Sometimes, if there is a lack of the latter, all the hair may fall out.

Vitamin E is necessary for beauty. It is involved in the transport of oxygen throughout the body, and without a good supply of oxygen, the hair follicles cannot function. Vitamin E makes them stronger, as the local immunity of the scalp is strengthened.

Vitamin C is needed to strengthen the walls of blood vessels that supply the scalp with oxygen and nutrients.
Lack of vitamin A leads to hair loss, it becomes brittle and dull.

It is impossible to grow gorgeous hair without a sufficient amount of protein in the diet. Therefore, dry lecithin, liver, brewer's yeast, soy, fish, fermented milk products, and eggs should be included in the menu. The body will be enriched with microelements due to the presence in the diet of carrots, spinach, seafood, nuts, bran, legumes and different types of cabbage.

  • Once the mixture is ready, it should be immediately applied to the hair,

Proper care, nutrition, beauty and health of hair

The beauty and health of hair largely depends on how we care for it. Even naturally beautiful, thick and manageable hair can look dull and lifeless if you don't care for it correctly. And sometimes magnificent, shiny thick curls say that their owner knows what careful and proper hair care is at home. Beautiful and healthy hair always adorns a woman better than the most fashionable hat or scarf.

1. The first and main condition for beautiful and healthy hair is daily care and maintenance. The modern woman is too busy, but she still needs to find at least a little time for herself and her beauty. Not a single cosmetic, healing or restorative mask will give the expected result if applied from time to time. So, proper nutrition for hair growth is very, very important.

Proper hair care at home

2. The easiest method of caring for your hair at home is washing it. At first glance, it may seem that it is enough to wet your hair, apply shampoo, lather and rinse well. Yes, not so. There are many nuances. You need to consider your hair type and choose the right shampoo accordingly. The quality of the water in which you wash your hair can also affect the beauty of your hair. It is different in different regions - hard, soft, with different chemical composition. So the beauty and health of hair largely depends on these and many other factors.

3. You should also observe the temperature of the water in which you wash your hair. Hair should not be washed in very hot water - this disrupts its structure and can cause severe hair loss. You need to wash your hair in warm water, and rinse it even in cool water. This procedure smoothes the hair scales and after drying they will become beautiful and shiny. To make your hair not only shiny, but also voluminous, you should rinse it in a decoction of burdock and nettle roots.

4. After the hair is washed, some kind of care product should be applied to it - conditioner or balm. There is also a simple rule here - you should not apply balm or conditioner to the roots of your hair, they will quickly become greasy. It is best to apply all care products carefully from the middle of the hair to the ends.

Gentle care and proper nutrition for hair growth at home

Hair health and beauty are interconnected. Careful care and proper nutrition for hair growth at home involve the use of numerous cosmetic procedures. Beauty and hair health, as already noted, are very closely interrelated. Therefore, if you want your hair to be beautiful and healthy, minimize traumatic factors. But to create a beautiful hairstyle, we quite often use numerous and varied cosmetic and mechanical means.

Of course, it’s very difficult to do without hair dryers, curling irons, hot rollers, straighteners and straighteners, but it’s worth trying and finding less traumatic ways to create a spectacular and fashionable hairstyle.

Gentle care and proper nutrition for hair growth at home

For example, you can refuse a hairdryer. It is better to dry your hair naturally. It’s enough to get up a little early and do other morning activities while your hair is drying. If you cannot do without a hairdryer, then it is better to dry your hair with cold air. Hot ones hurt them more.

Hot rollers can be replaced with elastic curlers with a wire rod. You just have to choose the right diameter. The larger the diameter of the curlers, the larger the curls you will get. To make your curls last longer, you should wind them on damp hair or apply mousse or styling foam.

If you use a hair straightener or curling iron, spray your hair with a heat-protective spray before creating your hairstyle. This product will protect your curls from the harmful effects of high temperatures, will not stick them together, and the amino acids included in the product will make combing easier.

Proper and careful hair care at home and proper nutrition for hair growth require regularity, time and patience. You need to know your hair well and constantly take care of it, choosing various cosmetic procedures and products. If constant care of your curls becomes a habit, then all these procedures will not seem so complicated. But your hair will always be well-groomed and healthy.

Proper nutrition for hair growth using folk remedies

1. For good hair growth, it is useful to wash your hair with an egg mixture about once a week. Break two chicken eggs into a glass and add warm water, stirring the mixture continuously so that the eggs do not curdle. Wet your hair with hot water and then apply the egg mixture with massaging movements. After such a massage, the hair should be rinsed and one egg yolk rubbed into the scalp. After this, you should wrap your head in a towel and wait 10-20 minutes, and then rinse your hair thoroughly with running water.

2. For the beauty and health of hair, it is very useful to do the following procedure. To make dry scalp and damaged hair soft and elastic again, you should apply burdock oil before washing. After 10-15 minutes you can wash your hair.

3. Healthy shine and elasticity will be restored to your hair by rinsing your hair with lemon juice. If you don't have lemon on hand, you can add a little vinegar to the water. However, it is worth remembering that vinegar has a persistent odor, and your hair requires additional rinsing.

4. Rinse your hair with herbal infusions for rapid growth. Yarrow, chamomile, celandine, and sage have a beneficial effect on damaged, dry and brittle hair. You can brew any of these herbs, or you can make a collection by adding all these ingredients in equal parts.

5. It is good to rinse dark colored hair with a decoction of hops. Pour 2 tablespoons of hops and tartar into 1 liter of water, bring to a boil and boil for 20 minutes. Strain the broth, cool and can be used to rinse your hair.

Beauty and health of hair: proper hair care after dyeing

Whatever one may say, coloring, unfortunately, has a negative effect on the beauty and health of hair. Even when using the best dye, hair becomes brittle, dull, dry and requires special attention and careful care. Especially the first couple of weeks after the color change. But how to properly care for your hair after dyeing? Let's try to figure it out.

It is, of course, better to carry out the hair coloring procedure in a beauty salon and entrust your hair more reliably to a professional. In inexperienced hands or at home, you can damage your hair. After an unsuccessful procedure, it will take a long time to restore and treat the scalp and hair.

It should also be said that you should not change the color too often (no more than three times a month), since even the correct, most gentle coloring can change and damage the structure of your hair.

If you decide to change your hair color yourself, then for home dyeing you should choose natural dyes, such as basma or henna.

For regular use, give preference to modern, hair-friendly products. Such dyes not only carefully color, but also nourish and care for the hair.

Chemical hair lightening has a significant effect on the structure of the hair, so such a procedure should be carried out at home with extreme caution. So it is not recommended to lighten your hair by no more than three shades.

Also, you can’t do hair coloring and perm at the same time. This is too much of a challenge for our hair and can create serious health problems.

You should not comb your hair immediately after dyeing - some dyes end their effect only after the hair has completely dried.

Immediately after the dyeing procedure, you need to apply a special conditioner to your hair. A little later, apply a special nourishing cream or capsules along the entire length of the hair to restore the hair structure. These capsules contain biologically active substances that have a beneficial effect on the structure of colored hair. You can wash your hair with shampoo only three days after dyeing.

Proper hair care, beauty and health of hair after dyeing involves the use of special cosmetics and care products, such as shampoos, balms, conditioners for colored and damaged hair. Such products are developed by specialists specifically for restoring hair after a coloring procedure and giving hair a beautiful shine, rich color and healthy appearance. It is quite effective to use special leave-in conditioners after dyeing, which restore the structure of recently dyed hair.

After dyeing, our hair is sufficiently dehydrated and exposure to high temperatures is not recommended. Therefore, the use of a hairdryer, curling iron, straightening iron, and hot rollers should be minimized, or better yet, completely abandoned.

Hair coloring has become a common procedure for many modern women. Therefore, you need to take care of them and carry out proper, gentle and careful hair care after dyeing so that they are always well-groomed, shiny, elastic and healthy.

Human hair structure: what does the hair shaft consist of?

Cutaneous appendages are the general name for the morphological structures of the skin, which include hair, nails, sebaceous and sweat glands.

Hair is a horny thread-like derivative of the skin that forms the scalp. Each hair is a thin, flexible, but very strong structure rich in keratin.

Hair covers almost the entire surface of our body, especially a lot of it on the head (scalp, beard, mustache, eyebrows) and in the groin area (pubic hair).

Hair color depends on the amount of pigment it contains - melanin.

The structure of human hair, as well as its growth, which increases during adolescence, is determined by hormonal, metabolic and hereditary factors.

What does human hair consist of - its visible and subcutaneous parts? The visible part of the hair is the hair shaft. The part of the hair located under the skin is called the hair root (or hair follicle). The bulb is surrounded by a hair sac - a follicle, the shape of which determines: straight hair grows from a round follicle, slightly curly hair from an oval one, and curly hair from a kidney-shaped one.

The hair follicle is supplied with blood vessels and nerve fibers. It is thanks to the sensitive nerve ending that it hurts us if we pull a hair.

What does the hair shaft consist of and what are the functions of each layer?

1. Outer layer, or cuticle. The main function of this layer is protective. The cuticle is made up of thin cells like scales that overlap each other like tiles on the roof of a house. If the cuticle scales lie tightly, neatly overlapping each other, the hair will look silky, shiny, and soft to the touch. When cuticle cells are damaged (physically or chemically), hair becomes brittle and easily tangled.

2. Middle layer- cortical substance (cortex) - consists of elongated dead cells that give the hair strength and elasticity. The cortex contains the pigment melanin, which determines the natural color of hair.

3. Inner layer- medulla, consisting of soft keratin cells and air cavities. The purpose of this layer is not fully known.

The beauty and health of hair is largely determined by the fatty lubricant formed from the secretions of the sebaceous and sweat glands. This lubricant coats the scalp, protects it from foreign microorganisms and gives the hair a natural shine. The secretion of the sebaceous glands, perfectly protecting the hair shaft, smoothes the surface of the cuticle, helping the hair retain moisture and maintain elasticity.

If, for a number of reasons, the sebaceous glands secrete too much secretion, the hair becomes oily; if it’s not enough, your hair will dry out.

The phenomenon of “standing on end” hair, called “goose bumps,” is nothing more than an involuntary response of the body to cold or fear. Contraction of the muscle located at the base of the hair causes small bumps to appear on the skin. In furred or feathered animals, this mechanism allows them to retain a layer of air close to the surface of the skin, thereby protecting them from the cold. And due to this innate mechanism, the animal visually increases in size and becomes more dangerous in the eyes of the enemy.

Your hair is your health: food products for beautiful hair

The beauty and health of your hair are jeopardized due to an unhealthy lifestyle, unbalanced diet, and poor quality care. In addition, due to the natural change in hair structure observed after 25 years, the hair gradually becomes thinner, duller, increased hair loss may occur, it becomes dry and less elastic.

Proper nutrition is the key to healthy hair and its beauty. A varied, vitamin-rich diet is necessary for the hair-forming cells to function properly. Proper nutrition for healthy hair includes foods rich in protein (chicken and turkey meat, eggs, fish), which will supply the hair with valuable amino acids, which is important for the normal production of the main hair substance - keratin.

This is a very important factor in a person’s appearance!

But, as a rule, with age, hair becomes thinner, duller, and its natural shine and beauty disappears. The older you get, the worse your hairstyle!

But this happens in cases where a person does not care at all about the condition of his hair. Hair needs daily care.

It happens that a woman has very lush and beautiful, long and shiny hair, which nature has endowed her with from birth. In this case, you can make the mistake of not caring at all about the beauty of your head. What for? And so everything is wonderful, and everything will remain so for the rest of your life until old age. This is a false opinion, no matter how beautiful your hair is, if it does not receive proper care, it will thin and fade over the years and its beauty will remain only in photographs and in your memory.

There is only one conclusion - if until now you have ignored the “requirements” of your hair regarding care, then from this very day take emergency measures to restore your hair so that it is not too late!

The beauty of your hair is in your hands!

They say that by looking at hair you can approximately determine a person's age. But we must not forget that even nature can be deceived a little!

The best way to have healthy, voluminous hair is to find the right nutrition for it.

Hair nutrition:

To begin with, I want to voice general rules for all types of hair so that they do not lose their beauty:

  1. Try to drink one and a half liters of mineral water a day, just not carbonated.
  2. Consume products containing gelatin.
  3. Take vitamins and microelements.

Research by scientists has shown that brunettes have predominant amounts of manganese, lead, copper, silver and titanium in their hair.

For red-haired people, gold predominates.

Oily hair, dandruff, and as a result an itchy scalp, all these troubles also happen partly from your diet:

Fatty foods make your hair greasy and cause dandruff. This occurs due to the fact that fatty acids, entering the circulatory system, are removed by the sebaceous glands to the surface of the skin in the form of this unfortunate dandruff.

After this, an evil and very harmful fungus settles on your head and feeds on sebum. This unwanted “neighborhood” leads to deterioration of the hair condition and causes constant itching of the scalp.

To prevent this, exclude fried and baked foods, fatty pork, chicken legs, sour cream, and fatty meat broths from your diet. It is also advisable to avoid chocolate and sweets.

Try to replace all this with low-fat foods!

To hair beauty always pleasing to the eye, make it a rule to consume, if possible, foods that are rich in copper. The choice of such products is large: beef, poultry, quail eggs, legumes, fish, nuts and much more.

Keratin is simply irreplaceable for hair; you will find it in sunflower oil and seeds. Eat wholemeal bread every day, which also contains keratin.

For a healthy and natural shine to your hair, you need to eat cottage cheese, cabbage, low-fat yogurt and sea fish.

We can talk endlessly about the benefits of fresh vegetables and fruits!

Fresh vegetables and fruits are a wonderful, inexhaustible source of nutrition for healthy hair!

Rub them into the roots of your hair and your hair will always look great. Your hair will respond to such care and attention on your part.

The result will be HAIR BEAUTY for many years!
